The idea was simple, build the entire PC, including monitor inside
an old monitor case. The reason: why not? Click on any of the thumbnail
images below to see a bigger image. The big image opens in a new window,
so if you can't see them, you need to upgrade your pop-up stopper to
a smarter model.

Mounting the motherboard on the base of the monitor
case. We used the mounting surface from a micro case.
The CD drive on the side of the monitor, fitted before
any surface preparation was done to the outside of the case. The
venting slits on the case were filled in with auto body filler.
Drive mounts made from aluminum stock. The case is
painted with primer, and the LCD screen is obviously not in yet.
Finished product on the kitchen table. The final
paint is a textured silver. To maintain the all-in-one theme, the
keyboard and mouse are wireless.
CD drive open on the left, a floppy disk protruding
from the floppy drive on the right.
Side view showing CD drive with a black face plate
and one of the fans. The LCD screen is flat, the front of the monitor
case is curved, so same filler used to fix automobile bodies was
used to fill in the gaps top and bottom.
Regular size fan on each side blowing in to maintain
positive pressure (cuts down on dust bunnies) and two 40mm fans
on the top blowing out to help cool the LCD screen. The hatch on
the top gives access to expansion card slots.
