You also can attack Index.dat files manually. You simply have to log into Windows under another administrator account. If you have only one administr= ator account, create another. Click Start>>Control Pan= el. Double-click User Accounts. Click "Create a new account" and foll= ow the wizard.
From the other account, you can delete the Index.dat files in your accou=
nt.
On my system, here are the paths to the Index.dat files for cookies and the
history:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Cookies
C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Local Settings\History\
History.IE5
C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Local Settings\
Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\
These paths vary somewhat from what I found online. So you may have to search for the files.
